EXPAND CLC BUILDING 84 (PHASES 1 & 2)
Station Projects
Our team conducted a thorough evaluation of the original scope, along with a cost/benefit analysis of various site options. The most viable and cost efficient choice for this client was an addition to the existing CLC complex consisting of two stories with 16 beds. Each floor was designed in accordance with the Small Home Design Guide. The intention is to make the space feel like a true home for those who will reside within the CLC. Included in the scope are living rooms, kitchen, dens, and 8 bedrooms per floor. Additional staff support spaces are integrated throughout. This project includes historic preservation considerations and required SHPO approval. It is also PSRDM compliant.
Phase 2 of this project involves a 16,000 SF complete renovation of the Battle Creek VAMC CLC’s Building 84 first floor. This renovation includes demolition of interior walls, doors, ceilings, MEP utility lines, and furnishings. The intent for this first floor renovation is to match the new work to that of the work on Building 84’s second floor. Matching and aligning Building 84’s two caregiving floors will increase MEP efficiency, and help create uniformity between floors for the VA staff. In addition, the first floor renovation will make the space “dementia ready” as needed. In total, there will be 15 patient rooms with private bathrooms, laundry room, multi-purpose room, medication room, soiled/clean utilities, medical supply, and public toilet.
